Step 3: First-Time Launch and Sync. Plug in your controller before launching Hearthstats. Then launch Hearthstats.
Then launch Hearthstone. Wait ten seconds. Watch the Hssgamepad icon in the system tray (it) should go from gray to green.
If it stays gray, close everything and restart. No exceptions.
Step 4: In-Game Settings Check. Hearthstone must run in Windowed or Fullscreen Windowed. Not Fullscreen.
That breaks input routing. Go to Options > Graphics > Display Mode. Change it.
Restart the game.
Pro Tip: Right-click the Hearthstats shortcut → Run as administrator. Windows loves blocking controller access silently. This fixes 70% of “it’s not detecting my controller” messages.

You move your hand with the D-Pad or left stick. That’s it. No menus.

Select a card? Press A.
Play it? Drag with the left stick and release A. Like flicking a card across the table.
Targeting is where most people get stuck. Move the right stick (hero) or minion lights up. Tap A again to lock it in.
Hero Power is Y. Not B. Not X.
Y. I tried swapping it once. Felt wrong immediately.
End your turn? Start button. Not Back.
Not Select. Start. (Yes, I checked.)
Discover cards? Press A on the Discover prompt. Then use the D-Pad to scroll and A to pick.
Card text shows up when you hold A on any card in hand. Let go to close it.
Emotes? Hold B. Then tap D-Pad directions.

You can remap buttons. But don’t. Not yet.
The defaults are tested. They’re tight. They match how your brain already thinks about turns and targets.
